On his way back to Baghdad after spending four academic years at The Central Academy of Fine Arts, Peking 1959-1963 becoming the first Iraqi artist specialising in graphic art, mainly wood-cut engraving, black and white and coloured Rafa Nasiri held his ever first solo show in Shanghai being highly recommended by his professor-mentor Huang Yu Yi his exhibition included wood-cuts and water colour drawings he already accomplished during his training years Rafa was also asked there to take part in a workshop where he demonstrated his artistic skills in presenting art works following the Chinese method of painting and printmaking.
