The 2022 nominated winner has been selected by the Jury out of a number of participants from Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, who thankfully submitted the applications received until 31st December 2022.
The decision of the Jury members was based on the fact that the artist's works are represented in in an innovated spirit with simplified visual forms. In his monotype prints, he reduces the selected scenes to few elements, sometimes to a single one, for rendering, in shape and color, symbolic images of utmost sensitivity, preserving at the same time the spontaneity of the initial touch.
Ali Yass, student, painter, filmmaker and marathon runner, born in Baghdad 1992, lives and works between Potsdam and Berlin Germany. Holds a BA in visual Arts, Jordan university, Amman (2015), in present, he is studying fine arts in the Lensbased Class, at the Universität der Kunste Berlin (UDK).
The Jury members would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to all the artists who submitted to the 8th edition of the Award, and extend a special congrats to the winner.
